Camp Rules

Calvary Baptist Church Family Camp Rules
(To be read, understood and accepted by all campers, including visitors.)

Since camping is a public function, modesty in dress is very important. Even though your personal convictions may differ from that of your fellow Christian campers, for their sakes, as well as your testimony before the unsaved public, we ask that you adhere to the following rules:
BOYS: There will be no net T-shirts, tank tops, sleeveless T-shirts, or ratty shirts. All pants, jeans and slacks must come to at least the top of the knees. No extremely tight-fitting pants. Boys must wear shirts at all times, including all bike rides and organized or unorganized game times, day and night (exception: at the water, during boy’s swimming periods).

GIRLS: All ladies and girls are to wear shirts and blouses with sleeves covering their shoulders. No thin or skimpy shirts or blouses. Every Christian girl ought to be embarrassed to have any part of her underclothes exposed. Proper underclothes are mandatory. No low-cut or short-cut shirts, exposing the belly, chest or back. All pants, jeans and slacks must come to at least the top of the knees. No extremely tight-fitting clothes of any kind. Leggings, leotards, and tight-fitting yoga pants without something over them, are not permitted. Loose-fitting slacks and culottes may be worn, due to the high activity recreation, bike-riding, etc., but generally speaking not blue jeans, due to their common tight-fitting design. Bikini-type swimming attire is not permitted. If campers have questions about their clothing, they may get approval from either the Oldfields or Fultons. Their decisions stand!

EVERYONE: T-shirts with questionable logos or slogans are not permitted. Since the swimming areas are so far from our actual camp-site, robes are not to be worn back and forth; wear regular clothes and put them over your wet swimming clothes (they will dry – probably before you get back to camp).

SWIMMING: Segregated swimming will be enforced. Boys and girls may not swim together. There are three major areas for swimming – opposite ends of the docks (north and south) and the small beach east of the bridge to the island. If the boys are using one area, the girls must use another. This includes both afternoons and evenings. If using the docks try to stay as far from the moored boats as possible. Exception: families may swim together, but they need to find a secluded area if possible. No one but parents can carry cameras into swimming areas, and they must confine their pictures to that of their own families. No one is permitted to use the Farragut public swimming beach.

SPEECH: Vulgar and profane speech will not be tolerated. After one or two warnings, guilty parties will be asked to leave the camp ground.

MUSIC: No secular modern music will be permitted, whether prerecorded or spontaneous. Generally speaking, there is no need for radios, CDs, or other kinds of media at camp – including video games.

GAME TIME: From 10:00 to noon all campers are expected to meet at that day’s designated game area, even if they are unable to directly participate. This is a major time of fun and fellowship.

DEVOTION TIME: At 7:00 pm, all campers are required to gather at the designated chapel area to participate in the preaching service.

GUESTS are welcome and encouraged, whether for the week or an hour, but they are to be informed of these rules prior to their arrival in camp and they are expected to follow them. Church members who invite guests, are responsible for their friends’ behavior and attire.
As the camp leaders cannot be everywhere, we ask, and give permission to all adult members of Calvary Baptist Church, to help enforce these rules, doing so with kindness and wisdom. Any serious infractions of the rules or morals which cannot be easily addressed should be submitted to the Pastor or Mrs. Oldfield.
